is this a question of what we would do to our car with 8k? If so, this is way too easy. I have a '93 325i. $8k would be just about perfect for a turbo setup and a beefier sway bar. OBD1 FTW http://www.trmtuning.com/product/trm-ob

All Fluids $200= $8000 gone Would look something like this except in Black.....except Oh crap I didn't have enough in the budget for CCW's and Hoosiers.
![]() 10/20/2014 at 09:37 |

Total of $16k so you get more for suspension!
![]() 10/20/2014 at 09:39 |

The $8788 left should buy a lot of pain bodywork! What does the finished car look like?

Also, what does the finished car look like?

My Uncle had a box of old Hot Rod magazines stored at my grandma's place and I became a car guy (age 6) in 1978 when I saw a photo of this car.

I missed that i got 16k total. added a T-56 swap and Big brakes. I'd also need wheels and tires... with some sticky rubber
The car currently looks like this. It needs a new coat of paint and a little rust repair.

hmm. I don't think it would take $8k more to do what I want with the suspension. Probably new poly bushings for the rear subframe and a new rear diff. It could use some odds and ends but I just redid most of the important suspension bits. It would end up looking bone stock. I wouldn't want to lower it due to shitty roads. I just want it to look like a bone stock mid range german sedan from the 90's. Just enough extra power to make it more fun and surprise bros in V6 mustangs and the handling to back it up.

homemade AWD conversion- $4,000 of both budget.
Engine: APR Stage 3 kit, plus supporting mods $3,000
Transmission bracing $1,000
Suspension: Full coil kit+sway bars $2500
Big-ass stoptech cross-drilled rotors, with brembo high-performance pads $1500

I don't know why i want my car to be the ultimate straight line sleeper.
Because it's already has a 2JZ and 4-door plus tokyo taxi appearance, i think i'll spent 0 bucks on aero.
Now, suspension, can i keep my stock please? It's comfortable as hell. So 0k on suspension.
So, 16k, 2JZ, the rest is just your imagination ;)
*but seriously, 16k can do lots to 2JZ right?

Engine = Professionally rebuilt caddy V12
Suspension = IRS probably a Jag rearend, custom built frame and an in wheel setup for the front.

Nice, any photos of what it would look like when it was built?
![]() 10/20/2014 at 10:09 |

ok, yep $16k sounds like 1000hp to me, but you may want to upgrade the trans/driveshaft/diff/axles/ brakes....and leave plenty left over for tires!
![]() 10/20/2014 at 10:10 |

Nice, what does it look like when it's finished?
![]() 10/20/2014 at 10:12 |

Nah, i'm not interested to take it to a trackday. It's Toyota Crown Btw.
I once took my old S600 W140 to a trackday. Bad idea.
But i also once took it to Dragstrip and it's a very good idea.

It would look a lot like this. I'd keep the body basically the same. No hood because there's no need for that and that v-12 is pretty big.

I'm actually making high compression pistons for a 1930 Caddy V16 for a customer in Texas now.

That's the coolest thing I've ever heard of.

2006 GTO -
Import JDM Kenmeri shell, install coilovers, sway bars and full cage ~8K
Swap LS2, T56, Kaaz LSD ($1k) from GTO to Datsun, install lumpy cam, 10" wide Volk wheels and 275 tires
pic stolen from Rocky Auto

Not the prettiest thing but a lot better than 6:1 compression or so :)

Yep, Donor cars go a long way!

Don't get me wrong, I love my GTO but assuming I could find a very basic shell in Japan, import it and make it legal somehow - I would for $16,000
![]() 10/20/2014 at 11:14 |

Nice! I think I'm kinda jealous of your job.
![]() 10/20/2014 at 11:19 |

Yeah, I was thinking about a GTO cause it fits the bill in a lot of ways; but it's getting hard to find a nice one!

It is pretty cool and I hope others get to do the work they enjoy. I talk to a ton of racers and engine builders of many types of cars and I get to race vicariously through them.

I'd do forged internals and stroke the 4.6 V8 in my Discovery to a 5.0 replacing the stretch bolts with studs and replacing the liners with pinned top hat liners. Swap the Auto gearbox out for an R380 5 speed manual and move all control units to the roof in a water proof container.
I'd use the rest to purchase air lockers for the front and rear axle.

Beautiful build. I know a car very similar to this. Owned by a HPDE driving instructor so very deadly.

Toyota Celica 1.6 ST coupe
Swap the 1.6 for something more powerful
rwd or awd swap, and this car would be perfect.
I would paint it dark purple.
